About Cloud Accounting

A founder-led team of 12 professionals, founded in 2019, keeping books for CPA firms and growing businesses in the United States, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Europe.

Cloud Accounting was founded in 2019 by Murtaza Kagdi to do one thing well: keep other people's books so accurately and so quietly that nobody has to think about them. Today we are a team of 12, working inside our clients' own QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, Zoho Books, Tally and FreeAgent files from India.

What we do

Two kinds of clients come to us. CPA and accounting firms in the US, the UK and the UAE use us as a white-label bookkeeping team: we process, reconcile and close their clients' files under the firm's name, and a senior accountant reviews every file before it reaches the firm. Growing businesses use us as their outsourced accounting department: monthly books, a close pack on an agreed date and tax-ready records for their CPA, auditor or tax agent.

In both cases the core work is the same: bookkeeping, reconciliations, payables and receivables, payroll, month-end close, tax-ready records, catch-up projects and software migrations. For CPA firms we also prepare tax returns, for the firm's review and signature. Our target for a typical file is a five-business-day close.

How we work

  • Two sets of eyes on every file. A named accountant prepares it; a separate senior accountant who did not prepare it reviews it. Nothing goes out on the strength of one opinion.
  • Inside your systems. We work in your platform with the access you give us. We keep no client files on our machines, and Social Security numbers are masked by default.
  • A query log, not a suspense account. Questions are asked on day one rather than discovered on day five, and nothing is silently assumed.
  • Agreed dates, kept. Every file has a delivery date agreed before we start. If a date is at risk, you hear about it before the date, not after.
  • Plain answers. We reply within four business hours, and the founder takes every first call himself.

The team

Our 12 professionals include CPA, CA and MBA-qualified accountants. Six of them, including the founder, are introduced on our home page: Murtaza Kagdi, founder; John Carter, Senior Partner and Reviewer, CPA; Cassy Meloni, MBA, who keeps timelines, queries and deliverables on track; Mohammed Belim, Chartered Accountant, who leads year-end closes and tax-ready records; and senior accountants Hussain Kagdi and Huzaifa, who handle day-to-day bookkeeping, reconciliations and payroll journals. You can meet the people assigned to your files before you send us anything.

Where we are, and when

We are based in India. Our working hours are set to overlap the US Eastern, Central and Pacific working day as well as UK and Gulf office hours, which is what makes a five-day close practical for clients ten time zones away. Our clients are in the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and India, and we serve businesses across Europe.

What we are honest about

We do not hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification; both are on our roadmap, and we do not display badges we have not earned. For US, UK and UAE clients, tax returns, audits and attestations are signed by a licensed firm in that country; we prepare the records behind them and, for CPA firms, the returns themselves. And if outsourcing would not save you money, because your files are small or your team has spare hours, we will tell you so on the first call.

Talk to us

The first conversation is a 20-minute call with Murtaza, after which you receive a capacity plan and a fixed monthly quote whether or not you decide to work with us. Before any contract, we close and review one client file, or one month of your own books, for free. See the contact page for the ways to reach us.
